ORAL SURGERY

Oral Surgery Information Page

Oral Surgery is the process of extracting teeth.    Sometimes the teeth are extracted for Orthodontic(Braces) reasons, other times they are extracted because the tooth is unsalvageable.

Removal of a tooth is a permanent procedure so great care must be given to whether a tooth can be saved or not.  Can the tooth be used for retaining a denture or partial.?  This is the most important part of Oral Surgery, treatment planning and setting a goal.  All options must be considered before anything is done.

Options must be considered before extracting a tooth.  Options such as bone grafting to help preserve the ridge and prepare the area for a future replacement tooth, whether its an implant or a bridge.  Great care must be taken while extracting the tooth to maintain bone heights for the future also.
